Woodcraft Update!

We celebrated an epic weekend of fun at “home” at camp with Woodcup, Woodcraft’s famous soccer championship games, taking front stage. Woodcrafters really turned up the heat out there on our Field of Dreams, making swift moves and cheering loudly for teammates. There was music, a. water station and excellent live commentaries by staff and OLTDs. We were treated to narrations in Spanish, Greek, German, and perfect British and Scottish accents which somehow seemed to elevate our players’ games. Team North American won Woodcup and after a very necessary dip in the lake, all players made their way to the dining hall for a hearty pasta dinner and ice cream sundae dessert while they got to watch the Europa Cup 2024 Final. To close out the night, our campers and staff members made their way to a beautiful campfire where we were entertained with skits and songs.

Preceding all of this, the Iroquois Village, Hadarondah, Ranger and Trail Camp divisions completed their cabin trips successfully! Iroquois Village spent two nights canoe-camping at Stillwater where they were treated to beautiful weather the first day and were met with rain on their second day and night. Although their firetower hiking plans got washed out, they are to be commended for working together through a wet day and night with Woodcraft spirit! The Hadarondahs were able to steer clear of the rain on their two night camping trip and the stars shone brightly for them over Moss Lake where they camped in a lean to. Our Rangers hit the high peaks with determination and successfully summited the Dix Range (5 peaks!) on their 3 night camping trip. They were smartly able to summit before the rain hit by rising and climbing early and were able to hunker down for a great night’s sleep before they hiked out and returned home to Woodcraft. Our Trail Campers set out on a 4 night trip to Cranberry Lake where they strengthened their paddling skills and honed their canoe camping knowledge as they made their way to a new resting place each night around the Adirondacks’ third largest lake. All divisions were back home by Saturday and everyone was happy to be together again for a fun day and dinner followed by Counselor/Camper Hunt.

We are having the best time and hope you enjoyed our update!

Happy Camping Wishes from Woodcraft,

Doug, Christina and the Woodcraft Staff Team
